Baby Bronxton is Born April 25, 2014

 We're a family!

 Welcome Bronxton Mac Day, 8 lb 10 oz, 1:19pm April 25, 2014

You were so loved from the very start!

The day before you were born was our last prenatal visit of the pregnancy. I was 4 days past the due date and they said if I did not go into labor naturally in the next 2-3 days I would have to be induced. I was determined not to let that happen, but at the same time you seemed to be in no rush to enter the world. That night we went to sit on the new benches at time square and I remember watching 3 yr old Bridger run around, and thinking, how am I going to do two?

That night at midnight I felt the beginning of mild contractions. I did not time them but I could tell they were coming consistently so I did my best to get some sleep knowing you would be here soon. By about 5:30am I couldn't try and sleep anymore, contractions were growing and getting intense. I showered and let Dad and midwife know it was time. We were able to wait until 7am to drop of Bridger at a friends house, and hop on the subway down to Roosevelt Hospital (59th between 10th and 11th ave). AND YES, we took the subway, your mom doesn't need any pampering even when giving birth. On the way to the hospital we ran into our midwife who remarked that if I was walking around I must not be ready to birth. I assured her I was ready and contractions were getting crazy.

We entered the hospital and although we chose it due to its birthing center, we were told there was not sufficient staff. So after about an hour or so in triage where contractions became unbearable I was happy to go to any room. As soon as we moved rooms I asked for an epidural, things were getting so crazy. The epidural was hard to get in because my contractions were so fast and intense. But I needed to feel some relief and rest so I could push. And after the epidural kicked in I relaxed for a moment and had the newfound strength to push you out. At that point my water had not broken, and I did not want my midwife to break it. I wanted everything to happen as naturally as possible. While pushing I felt such an incredible pressure to push. As I bore down,....FINALLY, at long last, the amniotic sac burst and the fluid shot out of me at such an intense pressure it hit my midwife in her glasses and the wall across from me. Our midwife mentioned that in all 967 births she had never had anything like that. You are special.

As I pushed again it seemed you were a little stuck and so a quick cut and you slid out. You were a big baby at 8 lbs 10 oz, much bigger than Bridger at 6 lbs 4oz, so I was relieved that I chose the epidural for a much larger entrance.

As soon as you exited you looked a little purple so they suctioned you out quickly and got a nice cough out of you. Then I got to hold you, and you were. in. one. word.

PERFECT!!!

Everything from you head to your toes was utter perfection. and I loved every moment getting to meet you on the outside.

Bridger loved you from the start!

Time to leave the hospital!

We all loved holding you, and beholding you...
 Instant love...

Big yawn for a little guy.

You were much bigger than Bridger so many of his little outfits never fit you, but I was able to get a few on you the first week!
