I grew up on the East coast. We have the occasional hurricane with fierce wind and rain, but never have I experienced the "Wind" component soley on its own. Sure, after living in NYC, I knew what it felt like to have the wind from the subway crates blow up your skirt, and experience a wind tunnel between buildings. But on December 1, 2011, Bountiful Utah I encountered a WIND storm that I'd never known the likes of. A wind storm that did some type of damage to almost every property in the area, including our fence, trees, and any other unsecured objects. Perhaps the most impressive item to turnover that I unfortunately I did not capture was a Concrete Bench. Yes, a concrete bench. I can't imagine the weight of that sucker, nor the force of wind needed to blow it over.
Many power lines went down all over the neighborhood and we went about 3-4 days with no power or heat. It got cold. The first night we used the fireplace and slept by it. The next 2 nights we stayed with the Giles family who had not lose power. Thank goodness for warmth. As if losing use of both my feet and legs for two months wasn't enough penance, we got to have this fun experience also.
Bye Bye Tree on the Left, and notice the blown fence.
Man down, more fence lost.
Poor door
More fence down
Neighbors not so small trees
That basketball hoop didn't have a chance
Where's the road after that tree fell?
Uprooted.
